Israel and Palestine
I have so much to say about what’s going on in Gaza and southern Israel, but since I’m on holiday with my sister, I’m abstaining from a full-on rant session. An attempt at a full analysis will come this Friday when I start work at Newsweek this Friday.

Tumblrette
Thanks for the tip, Morgan! I don’t pay for mobile applications because, well, I’m a poor college student, but I shelled out $2.99 for Tumblrette and I love it! This is how much I love Tumblr - I’m willing to spend money for it!

Help!
Everyone! I just got an iPhone and am trying to get comfortable using it. What applications do you use to update your Tumblogs? What do you use to Twitter? Are there any other essential applications that I should get? I’d appreciate any comments, input, reblogs, and emails! Happy New Year all!

I. Suck. At. Life.
It’s Papa Yoon’s birthday and I missed calling him on his birthday (Seoul time) because I’ve lost track of what day of the week it is, because my body aches, because my sister and I have lost sense of time spending time with each other. Plus, it doesn’t help that the time difference is so RIDICULOUS that there are limitations on when I can call him to wish him Happy...

Roaming Union Square with the sister! Now that I’ve started Twittering, and now that I’ve got an iPhone (Courtesy of my sugar momma, the sis), I will be more proactively blogging! So everyone, come stalk! :)

“They say I don’t give people enough chances, that I cut people too short. There might be truth to this. But I know there isn’t. If I cut people too short, that’s because there was a reason for me to have done so; I simply wasn’t struck by them - struck, like the first time you felt paint in your hands as a child, playing with the succulent, gelatinous blobs of paint,...

After a delicious dinner in the Lower Eaat Side, we are off to see what else New York has to offer. Watch out! (side note: it really is difficult to type on the iPhone.) Posted with LifeCast

There is nothing like family.
The sister is here and everything is perfect. Would be even better if my parents were here too!

Gah!
My sister gets to New York (her first time!) the day after tomorrow and I have done nothing!! I’ve been passed out for the past four days, after a VERY long week of finals and a grueling paper. It’s no excuse but I have yet to go grocery shopping, do laundry (shocking, since this really is my favourite pastime), clean, and plan a flawless itinerary. Sorry Big Sis! Will get on it...

Netherfield Ball
Lizzie: I think he likes her very much.
Charlotte: But does she like him?
Charlotte: Few of us are secure enough to be in love without proper encouragement. Bingley likes her enormously, but might not do more if she does not help him on.
Lizzie: She's just shy. If he cannot perceive her regard, he is a fool.
Charlotte: We are all fools in love.

Pemberley, Dusk.
Darcy: And how are you today, my dear?
Lizzie: Very well, only I wish you would not call me "my dear".
Darcy: Why?
Lizzie: It's what my father always calls my mother when he's cross about something.
Darcy: What endearments am I allowed?
Lizzie: Let me think. Lizzie for everyday. My Pearl for Sundays and Goddess Divine - but only on special occasions.
Darcy: And what shall I call you when I'm cross? Mrs. Darcy?
Lizzie: (suddenly serious) Oh no. You can only call me Mrs. Darcy when you are entirely and perfectly and incandescently happy.
(He takes her face between his hands.)
Darcy: And how are you this morning Mrs. Darcy?
(Lizzie smiles as he kisses every inch of her face and in between each kiss, murmurs "Mrs. Darcy".)

Beauty
Living in a city where catcalls and sleazy pick-up lines dominate and words like ‘beautiful’ have been permanently replaced by ‘hot,’ ‘sexy,’ and ‘fine,’ has made me desensitized to any words of genuine appreciation, recognition, and kindness for both a woman’s inner and outer beauty. I remember going to a black tie dinner last year. It was a...

Fantasy
I spent a lot of time daydreaming in high school. (Fun fact: In Arabic, the word for ‘theatre’ is derived from the verb ‘to daydream’, literally meaning ‘a place for daydreamers’.) I rebelled in class by reading Dave Eggers and combing through the pages of the International Herald Tribune instead of the horrible textbooks. In between the words I read, I...

Notebooks, Staples, and Blood
Me: when the stories end, when the conversations end, that's when the love ends.
[redacted]: :(
Me: it's like you've been given a blank notebook with 20 pages and were told to write ulysses or something.
[redacted]: ...yes. that's a beautiful analogy.
Me: i want a binder and an endless supply of looseleaf paper to keep on writing!
Me: let's go to staples, [redacted]
[redacted]: damn straight!
[redacted]: but [you know,] i'm constantly scared of the day i can't write anymore, my pen goes out of ink. i hope that day never comes.
Me: if your pen goes out of ink, you recharge by spending time with girlfriends and family, but most importantly with yourself.
Me: you know, it's like blood transfusions - you lose al ot of blood and you need blood donors but at the end of the day, the body needs to be able to recreate its own blood to sustain life.
[redacted]: yeah, thank god i'm A positive.

Le Bonheur vs. La Vie Ordinaire
[redacted]: il faut souffrir pour etre heureuse?
Me: c'est quoi "etre heureuse"?
Me: oh [redacted], that's beautiful.

Wanted: Revenue Model for Newspapers
squashed: I put a lot of information here. But almost every post is me regurgitating somebody else’s research. I might even be offering my opinions on somebody else’s opinions of something some person way down the information chain discovered. I like to talk about places I have never been and politicians I have never met. As much as possible, I like to check sources or (if possible) read...
